Author: Honoria Ravena

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Reviewed by: Preternatura

In this short novella by Honoria Ravena, shapeshifting tiger Jayden is on the run from those who would kill his kind. When he’s caught in a trap by a gang of were-hunters, he reluctantly depends on human Maura first to free him, and then watch over him as he heals. The two are drawn together in his danger-driven world where shifters are seen as a biohazard by the weres.

Jayden is an interesting character, though Maura comes across as very young. Jayden also is well-versed in modern slang even though he supposedly hasn’t had close contact with humans since Colonial times. This makes it hard to suspend disbelief and get lost in the story.

The best thing about Biohazard is its worldbuilding, which is interesting, complex and unique. Unfortunately, in a novella this brief that means a lot of backstory has to be provided in a very short amount of time. I’d like to see the story expanded into a more complete novel, where Ravena’s intricate political world of weres and shapeshifters has room to grow and expand.

The last thing Jayden, a shapeshifter, expects is to be saved by a human woman...one whom needs saving of her own.

Hunted by his people, the shapeshifter, Jayden, sheds his human skin after escaping his execution. 200 years later he’s still on the run. When he’s attacked in the remote woods in Wyoming, the last thing he expects is to be saved by a human woman.

When Maura finds a rough looking group of men hunting a tiger in her forest, she doesn’t hesitate to pull a gun on them and release the animal. What she doesn’t expect is for that frightening cat to change into a gorgeous, surly man with a tortured past.

But when his people threaten her life, will he save her, or leave her to the wolves?
